Medaram, September 15: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the Sammakka-Saralamma temples at Medaram on Tuesday and announced the government’s commitment to redevelop the historic shrines with durable stone structures, inspired by the architectural grandeur of the Ramappa temple. Calling it his privilege to oversee the reconstruction of the sacred gaddelu (temple platforms), the CM emphasized that true development means improving the living standards of tribal communities, not just building concrete structures. Highlighting the government’s tribal welfare initiatives, the CM said that an additional 22,000 Indiramma houses have been sanctioned for tribals. He criticized past governments for neglecting tribal needs and said the present administration is determined to correct historic injustices. He also pointed out that while thousands of crores are sanctioned for Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, the Medaram Maha Jatara — one of the largest tribal festivals in the world — deserves similar attention from the Centre. Revanth Reddy unveiled designs for the temple expansion, directing officials to ensure that all works are completed within 100 days, well before the upcoming Maha Jatara. Plans include expansion of the gaddelu, improved temple infrastructure, and water conservation in the Jampanna vagu stream. The CM stressed that the new stone structures will endure for centuries, preserving the glory of Sammakka and Saralamma for future generations. Earlier, CM Revanth Reddy offered 68 kilograms of gold to the deities as a token of devotion. He also held a review with priests, tribal representatives, and officials, taking their suggestions into account before finalizing the redevelopment plan. Ministers Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Adluri Laxman, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy accompanied the CM during the visit.

HYDERABAD, September 23: In a joint statement released today, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Telangana State President, Dr. D. Dwarakanatha Reddy, and Hon. Secretary, Dr. V. Ashok, vehemently condemned the recent mob attack on the Superintendent at Government General Hospital (GGH), Mahbubabad. They described the incident as a "barbaric act" that is not just an assault on an individual doctor but an attack on the dignity and authority of the entire medical profession. Such violent acts in vulnerable healthcare settings create an atmosphere of fear, significantly demotivating doctors who serve our communities with dedication. Unlike other administrative offices, hospitals are uniquely susceptible to such aggression, and this alarming occurrence is a stark reminder of the risks our medical professionals face daily. The IMA TS believes that while enhancing security measures is essential, the long-term solution must address the root causes of such violence. We call for unity within our medical fraternity and solidarity from society at large to stand firm against these heinous acts. A safe and respectful environment is non-negotiable for doctors to perform their vital work without fear. The Indian Medical Association, Telangana State, demands: Immediate arrest and prosecution of all individuals involved in the attack under the strictest applicable laws. Give title, meta title, meta description, keywords and hint, tag Strengthening of security protocols in all government healthcare facilities to prevent future incidents. A clear commitment from law enforcement and the government to ensure the safety and security of all healthcare professionals. This act is condemnable not only by our medical fraternity but by every concerned citizen who values the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship and the safety of our healthcare institutions. We will not stand by while the protectors of health become targets of violence.

The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRC) has announced that Joint Ventures (JVs) will be allowed to participate in the Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Metro Rail civil work tenders. Managing Director N. P. Ramakrishna Reddy confirmed the decision through a press release from the APMRC office in Amaravati. As part of Phase-1, APMRC has invited international tenders for 40% of the civil works, covering 46.23 km in Visakhapatnam and 38 km in Vijayawada. The decision to allow JVs was taken after several contracting firms attending the pre-bid meeting requested more flexibility, including smaller work packages and the option to participate as joint ventures. Responding to these requests, APMRC decided to permit a maximum of three companies to form a JV and submit bids together. This is expected to increase competition and participation from more companies. However, authorities clarified that they will not divide the works into smaller packages, as completing both projects by 2028 within budget remains a priority. The last date for submission of tenders is set for October 10 for Visakhapatnam Metro and October 14 for Vijayawada Metro. This decision follows a review of other metro projects across India and aims to ensure timely completion without escalating costs.
