Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and invited him to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Gandhi Sarovar Project, scheduled for the last week of February. The event is planned at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers, a site of historical importance. The Chief Minister explained that in February 1948, Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at this sacred confluence, making it a place of deep national significance.
The Gandhi Sarovar Project is being undertaken as part of the larger Musi River rejuvenation initiative aimed at restoring the river’s ecological balance and enhancing its surroundings. The Chief Minister also informed the Defence Minister about plans to develop Bapu Ghat into a world-class center symbolizing education, culture, spirituality, and environmental awareness. The project is envisioned as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi while promoting sustainable urban development in Telangana.
