Cotton procurement in the state will continue until the end of February, following a decision by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) to extend the deadline. The extension comes after a request made by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. Acting on the Minister’s instructions, the Agriculture Department Secretary wrote to the Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Textiles seeking an extension of the procurement timeline. The Minister had also earlier appealed to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to support the state’s request.

Minister Tummala expressed satisfaction over the decision taken by the Central Government and CCI to extend the procurement period. He urged cotton farmers across the state to take advantage of the extended deadline and sell their produce at the procurement centers without delay, ensuring they benefit from the government’s support measures.
