A handloom exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated at the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly premises in Amaravati by Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu. Organized under the aegis of APCO, the exhibition showcases a wide range of handloom fabrics from different regions of the state on a single platform. The Speaker personally inspected the stalls, interacted with weavers, and appreciated their craftsmanship. To encourage the artisans, he purchased silk sarees, a silk dhoti, and a shirt, motivating the handloom workers. He noted that Andhra Pradesh takes pride in having the highest number of handloom societies in the country, with around 32 to 33 active associations. The Speaker stated that the exhibition aims to promote the rich handloom heritage of the state and create greater public awareness. He emphasized that the government is committed to supporting weavers and urged ministers, MLAs, and MLCs to visit the stalls and purchase handloom products. The stalls will remain open until the conclusion of the budget session, offering quality handloom items at discounts of up to 40 percent. Several dignitaries, including Minister Savita, Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju, Kamineni Srinivas, Buchaiah Chowdary, and other public representatives, attended the event and expressed their support for the initiative.
