Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh BJP Chief P.V.N. Madhav emphasized that the Godavari districts have long been strongholds of the BJP, with the party securing nearly 27% of votes and achieving remarkable victories in the region’s past elections. He addressed a felicitation event in Kakinada held in honor of BJP State General Secretary Saligrama Lakshmi Prasanna. Madhav stated that positions in BJP are responsibilities, not decorations, and that the role of State General Secretary requires active travel and deep involvement in organizational activities. He praised Lakshmi Prasanna’s dedication and noted that her appointment recognizes her long-standing service to the party. Calling upon members of the Brahmin community to re-engage in politics, Madhav remarked that many have distanced themselves from public life in recent years and encouraged them to join BJP, a party that moves forward with nationalistic and developmental ideology. He also acknowledged senior BJP leaders Somu Veerraju and Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, highlighting their long contributions that led to significant positions, including Rajya Sabha membership. The event witnessed participation from key BJP figures such as MP Daggubati Purandeswari, MLA Dr. Parthasarathy, former MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, Vetikuri Surya Narayana Raju, Nirmala Kishore, and BJP Kakinada District President Bikkina Visweswara Rao.

Kakinada, October 10: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced a 100-day roadmap to address the key issues faced by the state’s fishermen. Speaking at an interaction program with fishermen at the Kakinada Collectorate, he said the government is determined to find practical and lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes. “We will identify and initiate primary solutions to all major problems raised by fishermen within the next 100 days,” he said. Addressing the growing coastal erosion in Uppada, Pawan Kalyan revealed that steps are being taken to construct a coastal protection wall within the next two to three years at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore. The Union Home Ministry has responded positively to the state’s request for assistance. Meanwhile, a temporary protection system worth ₹6 crore is being set up to safeguard vulnerable coastal areas. He emphasized that this project will act as a protective shield for the coast for the next 50 years once completed. Highlighting environmental concerns, Pawan Kalyan announced that a special committee will conduct pollution audits of industrial units affecting coastal waters, with reports expected within a week. He clarified that the audits are not meant to intimidate industries but to understand the severity and sources of marine pollution. “We will soon inspect the coastal waters ourselves to assess pollution levels directly,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a ‘Clean and Green Andhra Pradesh’ vision under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. The Deputy CM also ordered the formation of an expert committee with IIT Chennai to correct design flaws in the fishing harbor, which have caused damage to boats and nets. During the meeting, insurance cheques worth ₹5 lakh each were distributed to 18 families of fishermen who died at sea, including those pending from the previous government. “This government works beyond party lines, ensuring transparency and justice for all communities,” he asserted.

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics, and Education Nara Lokesh met Sachin Gupta, CEO of Trafigura India, a global leader in logistics, oil, minerals, and food exports. During the meeting, Lokesh urged Trafigura to explore investment opportunities in port-based infrastructure, cold storage, and export facilities across Andhra Pradesh. Trafigura, which recorded $243.2 billion in business operations in FY 2024–25, had earlier signed a $1.4 billion LNG supply deal with Indian Oil Corporation in April. The company already exports coal, zinc, and aluminum through the Visakhapatnam Port and operates in multiple sectors including oil, petroleum transport, metals, minerals, gas, renewable energy, and logistics. Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s strong export potential, Lokesh noted that the state contributes 70% of India’s shrimp production and is a leading rice producer. He invited Trafigura to set up modern warehousing facilities at Visakhapatnam and Kakinada ports, participate in the renewable energy trade, and consider establishing an LNG regasification terminal to support gas-based power generation. With 82.62 million tonnes of cargo handled by Visakhapatnam Port this year, Lokesh also proposed the creation of a commodity trading desk in Vizag to boost the region’s logistics and export ecosystem.
