A candlelight peace rally was organized in Vijayawada to mourn the reported death of Ali Khamenei at the age of 89 and to condemn the United States’ actions against Iran. Sufi religious leader Altaf Baba addressed the gathering, stating that the loss of a few brave individuals in a struggle for truth and justice does not mean victory over righteousness. He drew historical parallels to sacrifices made in faith-based struggles and emphasized that moral principles ultimately prevail over aggression. Speakers at the rally described the developments as deeply painful and called upon the international community to collectively denounce military actions against Iran. They urged nations to unite against what they termed unilateral aggression driven by global dominance. Several Shia scholars and community representatives participated in the event, expressing solidarity and advocating for peace, justice, and global harmony.

A new unified front, the BC Joint Action Committee (BC JAC), has been formed in Telangana to strengthen the ongoing movement for BC (Backward Class) reservations. The committee was launched to consolidate various BC organizations and community groups under one umbrella to fight collectively for their rights. The committee appointed R. Krishnaiah as Chairman and Jajula Srinivas Goud as Working Chairman, with VGR Naragoni as Vice Chairman, Rajaram Yadav and Dasu Suresh as Co-Chairmen, and Gujja Krishna as Coordinator. The BC JAC announced a statewide Telangana Bandh on October 18, under the banner “Bandh for Justice”, to protest the High Court’s stay on BC reservations. Earlier protests — the road blockade planned for October 13 and the state bandh on October 14 — were postponed to coordinate a larger united movement. The leaders declared that this bandh will demonstrate the strength and unity of BCs, urging all community members to rise above political and organizational divisions. During the formation meeting held at Hotel Ashoka, Hyderabad, over 40 BC associations and 110 caste-based organizations participated. Leaders criticized certain political forces for attempting to block BC reservations through legal means. R. Krishnaiah emphasized that this struggle will continue until BCs secure their rightful share in legislative representation and government jobs, calling on all BCs to fight beyond political affiliations. Working Chairman Jajula Srinivas Goud stated that although BCs make up 60% of Telangana’s population, their rights continue to be suppressed by reservation opponents. He asserted that the October 18 bandh will send a strong message to both state and central governments, showcasing BC power from “the streets to Delhi.” The newly formed JAC vowed to lay the foundation for political empowerment and unity among BC communities across Telangana.

Hyderabad, October 10: Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha announced a week-long protest movement demanding justice for aspirants affected by alleged irregularities in the TSPSC Group-1 recruitment process. Speaking at a round-table meeting organized by Telangana Jagruthi at Somajiguda Press Club, Kavitha said the movement would begin with a ‘Vantavarpu’ (community cooking) program at Ashoknagar on Friday. Expressing deep concern, Kavitha said, “Even after achieving Telangana, our youth are still struggling for justice. I’m looking at the Group-1 issue as a mother, not just a politician.” She emphasized that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had done everything possible for students during the first decade of Telangana, but the current government’s handling of recruitment exams has deeply disappointed the youth. She urged students to stay focused on their studies while promising, “We will fight on your behalf until justice is served.” Kavitha announced five key resolutions passed during the meeting: the cancellation and re-conduction of Group-1 prelims and mains exams; ensuring implementation of the promised job calendar; filling two lakh government vacancies; a complete overhaul of the TSPSC; and revocation of G.O. 29, which she said undermines reservation policies. These resolutions will be formally sent to the Governor and Chief Minister. Condemning mainstream media’s silence on the issue, Kavitha urged journalists to amplify the voice of the unemployed. “Our legal team of 50 lawyers is ready to fight this battle in court if needed,” she added, stressing that the Telangana Jagruthi movement will extend protests to districts and villages across the state to ensure justice for students and unemployed youth.
